Update.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to add that my blog is being updated tomorow with the whole design process as I'm gonna upload an official 'Confessions Of A British Bird' logo!
So that means....
TUNE IN.

D.I.Y Wednesdays!

Helloo there lovlies!
As promised every wednesday I will bring you a DIY crafty item of the day but as this is my first one I have given you a double whammy!

                         THE LEATHER POUCH

Here I have re-created a replacement for the bumbag!
Instead of wearing it around your waist, wear it around your neck! Well, your money or phone will be safe and they have all sorts of these little leather pouches in antique and charity shops for real cheap.
These are perfect for any festival to keep your belongings safe (if pouch is big enough) AND gives a tribal and stylish accessorie.

Step one:

Buy pouch, any size, colour that suits you best!
You can even decorate it with felt like mine!

Step Two:

Use suede or a silver chain to attach to the pouch.
With a chain make two holes on either side and attach chain on both sides.
With the suede I used tie one knot on one side and another knot on the other side like this:

 Step three:

Then VOLIA! It takes 5 minutes and is a quick fix for a purse!

                       THE VINTAGE-LOOK SHORTS

Get bored of the same old denim shorts? Why not make them a little more exciting then and stand out with pretty print sewn on? RECYCLE YOUR FASHION.

Step One:

Use an old pair of shorts you never wear any more and/or a pair you wear alot. Your choice. And set them out flat on a hard surface or even the floor (make sure area is clean).
For me I picked these white denim shorts because they look like they need a bit of colour and a re-vamp!

Step Two:

Measure the sides of the back (bum) pocket and LEAVE a 1.5cm seam allowance unless you want a frayed look on the sides of the pocket. BUT be careful as too which material you use for the frayed effect as it could fray away....

Step Three:

Tuck in the 1.5cm seam allowance and tack (Use dressmaker pins with the blob at the end) to place the material on the pocket and make sure you sew correctly.

Step Four:

Sew along the sides leaving a little space in case. You can use a sewing machine but It may be tricky so I hand-sewn mine making the stitches close together and at my own pace found it easier to sew correctly.

Step Five:

You can do the same with the front pocket like this:

And then BAM you have new looking shorts!
If you wanna make them even more decorative you can even add studs down the sides or gathered around the pocket! Unfortunatly I don't have any studs at the moment but I am ordering some off ebay soon so will post a blog about DIYing your studded shorts or even a dress/top!

Hope you enjoyed the first DIY wednesday!!!

ZEBRA: Outfit Numero 1#

(This image was taken to show off my new red lipstick!!)
Print tribal man shorts from charity shop: £1
White boobtube top from peacocks: £2 (In a pack with a black tee)
Leather fringed jacket from H&M: £35
A little pricey but it was an IMPULSE buy!
The most expensive thing I own in my wardrobe!

Today, I felt like wearing shorts. So I did. I LOVE these print shorts of mine I purchased recently, they were one of my many bargains! I am one of those people that like to throw on anything in the morning instead of putting an outfit together the night before (what I used to do for out of uniform days at school and constantly threw on different clothes!). Recently I have been feeling that I have NOTHING to wear even though I have burst the two doors off my wardrobe with having too many clothes!
So I am in DESPERATE need to travel to manchester or liverpool vintage fairs they have where you can buy  1 KG of clothing for like a tenner.
I really need to sell some clothes but I'm such a hoarder! I cannot let any items of clothing go because they are like little rare gems, even though I hardly wear them.
ANYWAY sorry about the dodgy photoshopping hahaha!
That's another thing, yes I have used effects on my images but that is because I want all you lovlies to see my outfit. I am completly against editing photos just because I have a spot or a red face (which I do in these!).
You should be yourself no matter what you look like. Fashion Isn't about being perfect and looking gorgeous It's about what you wear and how you wear it!

Like one amazing woman quoted:

"I am tired of good taste. I want to do everything wrong and get a result that is of value and valid aswell."

I make a lot of pointless titles, well they make sense to me for some reasons.
This one means I have finally been able to take some decent photos (fingers crossed!) to show you another outfit. I think I will make the titles more to the point though next time like 'outfit numero blah de blah' :)

The middle picure looks like I have blinded myself, Looks odd but I wanted to show off the big ring I got ;)

Skirt: H&M £1.99
Shirt: Jumble sale 30p

Let's all eat mexican and wear ponchos

Ponchos!
Their back just in time for festival season.
I have been saving up for one for two months now because firstly I have A) NO job=NO money and B) Just bought my dream bicycle hoping the weather would be sunny but I have been cursed with the dreary dark clouds and RAIN.
H&M are awesome for latest trends and cheap prices and I was shrieking like a little girl at christmas when I saw they had an AZTEC one with tassells!!
YAHYAHAHAYAH.
Here's an image, I'm hopefully purchasing this gorgeoussousos item today or either this week in time for Y-NOT festival in August!

H&M : £17.99

Dip Dyed Hair

Helloo lovlies!
I was going to post up an outfit but my camera is so unbelievably shocking, you cannot see if I'm wearing anything at all! I was wearing a white outfit and of course I look like a human milkbottle. But It didn't look that bad! I wish, oh I wish for a FUJIFILM FINEPIX or LUMIX TZ8 camera....
I can dream and in that reality win the lottery.

Oh course though, what I was going say is that I have FINALLLYY after years dip-dyed or 'ombred' my hair!
You ask why not last year? Well, My hair was rather short and I was waiting for it to get longer-ish.
The like of Alexa Chung created this craze (well honestly at my college no one has done it) BUT everywhere else seemed too so I thought why not?
I love it, I have always wanted to be blonde but I never had the guts to dye it all in case it didn't suit me or worse FELL OUT! But I always seem to over think things and dived straight into the deep end.

Here's an image!

Emotion is the true art of creativity.

For me today, It's anger.
The thing is thought, I'm hardly ever angry!

Long story cut very short, Mummy and me decided to ride our bikes to town and we made it there. Just about. A woman in a car started shouting abuse at us blah de blah. So in the end we just went home. I want to live in london, NYC, ANYWHERE but here.

So with this anger fresh in my mind, I let it out by rummaging through my old Vogue and Elle mags and sabotaged them, ripping, hacking and sticking them randomly on my wall.
I now have my shrine for fashion that takes up one whole length of my wall!
Mixed between them is the trends from past years and present, bright colours, winter colours, pop art and textured fabric clothing.

This now gives me inspiration in the morning helping me to decide what to wear!
It's like a huge moodboard of craziness thrown together which suits my style very well!

I realised that creativity comes from the heart and how we feel, we express our ways different to others depending on how we think and this is what makes everyone unique.

I like to splash in muddy puddles and dance around in wellies

I think it's summertime.
Raining and cloudy, typical British summer weather.
And where else do I go but chester zoo for the big toddle!

Hahah, not me guys (unfortunatly I didn't get a medal, my baby brother did) but it was a chance to wear my festival wellies from last year. Not only did I splash around in puddles but they are SOO comfortable! Anyone else agree that people should wear wellies everywhere they go?! Well, not all of you are as crazy as me so probabaly not.

For weather like this, I decided to wear a midi floral skirt (Granny-chic) ;), a biscuit coloured tie-front top, skinny brown belt and the essential leather jacket embellished with lots of vintage badges ;).

I don't own a khaki/green parka because A) I don't have £30 too spend on one and B) EVERYONE owns one which has put me off. Instead why not buy an Army/military one?

I have to admit I love the festival section in magazines but festival season isn't all about green parkas and hunter wellies. I would love a pair of hunters but why pay £50 on them when you can get more decorative looking wellies for cheaper?!

EVERYONE seems to own hunter wellies and a green parka these days so why don't we make it a revolution to be different at festivals! I mean, that's what it's all about!

Festivals are about wearing crazy fancy dress and buying cheap vintage clothes from the little clothing tents!
These are a few beauties I own in my wardrobe that i'm considering taking to the festival i'm attending in August.
This Isn't all but I will style and model them better soon in my next blog!
Tell me what you think!

Obviously I woould be wearing shorts BUT they are currently in the wash,
so don't do a Taylor Momsen and have your pants on full display.
 Not. A. Good. Look.

Vintage playsuit from Beyond Retro.
Floppy hat from charity shop.

One of my AMAZING bargains!
Next: £5 in sale last year!
Chuffed doesn't even describe my joyness...

Another vintage playsuit from Beyond Retro.
Vintage scarf.

Another FAB bargain!
Y-Not fest vintage stall: £5 SMACKERS

That's all folks!

Lots of lav,
British Bird
